Clean your Wave hot tub filter after every use and replace or thoroughly deep-clean it weekly with regular use. Rinse it with a garden hose to remove debris, and every two weeks soak it overnight in filter cleaner. Replace immediately if it stays discoloured, the pleats lose shape, or water remains cloudy after cleaning.
For best results, rotate between two filters so one can dry while the other is in use, and maintain proper water chemistry to prevent clogging. All Wave models use one of 2 filter models, check your manual for the correct one.
To change your Wave hot tub filter, switch off power at both the control panel and electrical isolator. Locate the filter housing (side access on Garda/Pacific, rear on Como/Aegean, top access on Tahoe/Atlantic) and remove the old filter, twist counterclockwise or release the snap-lock. Clear debris from the housing, then fit the new filter with the O-ring seated, twisting clockwise until hand-tight. Reset the filter timer (press and hold for 3 seconds) before powering back on and testing circulation. For best results, rebalance chemicals after every filter change.
Clean your Wave hot tub filter weekly by removing it and rinsing thoroughly with a garden hose, spraying between pleats to remove debris and oils. Every two weeks, deep-clean by soaking it in a specialist filter cleaning solution for 8–12 hours, rinsing until clear, and air drying completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
For heavy use, add a monthly intensive clean with filter tablets or enzyme cleaners. Avoid household detergents or bleach, which damage the filter and cause foaming. Proper cleaning keeps water clear, reduces chemical use, and extends filter life.
Your Wave hot tub filter works alongside chemicals to keep water clean by removing particles, oils, and debris they can’t eliminate. A clean filter ensures clear water, efficient heating, and even chemical distribution, while a clogged filter can cut circulation by up to 50%, causing cloudy water, poor heating, and higher running costs.
Dirty filters also create “dead zones” where bacteria can grow, forcing your spa to use more chemicals. In summer, clean more often to combat increased debris from heavier use and lotions. Replace or clean filters promptly to maintain top performance.
Common filter issues include reduced water flow from clogged filters, cloudy water when filters are overwhelmed, shortened filter life due to chemical imbalances, and leaks from damaged O-rings or poor installation.
To troubleshoot, rinse or replace filters, check and reseat O-rings, ensure the filter housing is sealed correctly, and maintain proper chemical balance to protect the filter media.
Contact our support team if you notice housing damage, pump problems, persistent bypassing of unfiltered water, or unusual wear patterns. Prevent problems by following a regular cleaning schedule, using quality filters, and maintaining balanced water chemistry. In emergencies, clean your filter multiple times a day, reduce spa usage, and monitor chemicals closely until repairs or replacements are done.
