Supporting Ryan Crouch on his Road to Recovery and the Commonwealth Games

Supporting Ryan Crouch on his Road to Recovery and the Commonwealth Games - Wave Spas USA

There's no denying that immersing yourself in hot bubbling water feels good, but its also scientifically proven that regularly soaking in a hot tub can relieve sore muscles and speed up recovery. In fact, long before the dawn of hot tubs, hot springs were sort-after for their therapeutic, healing benefits.

According to the New York Times, a study found that “muscles recover better after exhausting exercise if they are warmed than if they are chilled”. These interesting findings, published in the Journal of Physiology, found that “warming muscles probably aids in recovery by augmenting the muscles’ uptake of carbohydrates”.

Naturally, when Paralympian Ryan Crouch reached out to Wave about purchasing a hot tub for his recovery, we we're more than happy to help. The swimmer, from Lawford, made an inspiring debut for his country in the Rio 2016 Paralympics where he achieved 8th place in the 50 metre freestyle race. Ryan has since been shortlisted to compete at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and trains exceptionally hard every week, all while juggling his job as local Swim Coach.

In order to continue achieving his goals, the 27-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, regularly participates in challenging and strenuous training sessions. To combat sore and aching muscles, Ryan spends post-work out sessions relaxing in his hot tub.

"Recovery never felt so good!" says Ryan, pictured in his Atlantic Plus White Wood Hot Tub

"Since having a Wave Spas hot tub over the past few weeks, I have honestly felt a huge difference in my ability to recover from tough and strenuous workouts, and being able to ‘go again’. Working hard and striving to be the best version of myself is something that is a daily focus for me, and this amazing piece of equipment plays an essential role towards my ambitions."

"The ability to be able to ‘go again’ is huge in any sport. Wave has really impressed me with this beauty… it’s better than what I could ever have imagined!"

From everyone at Wave Direct, we'd like to wish Ryan the best of luck in all his future endeavours. We hope to see him make it to the Commonwealth Games in 2022!
